CASE STUDY
Coaching - Jonathan.
A leading Reward consulting practice engaged me to coach Jonathan, one of their newer Partners. After a Chemistry Session we met for 6 x 90 minutes sessions over 9 months.
The Challenge:
In our initial work, we explored Jonathan’s feelings that he was at a crossroads. Having risen through the ranks from a junior role, he was now stepping into the firm’s leadership team. The transition required more than just a title change; it required a fundamental shift in how he related to Partner peers, led his practice and projected his authority externally. Together we identified areas for attention including:
Relational Dynamics: Learning to navigate a leadership team where former superiors were now peers.
Sustainable High Performance: Addressing "unhelpful" habits - such as poor sleep and burnout - and replacing them with some of the behaviours that fuelled his early career success.
External Authority: Building a prominent market profile to drive practice growth.
The Process:
We created Jonathan’s timeline to confirm his personal values and long-term direction and used our sessions for reflective thinking. By providing a high-attention space for Jonathan to verbalise and test his ideas, he was able to refine his leadership voice and career trajectory.
In later sessions, Jonathan spent more time testing his thinking, aided by my continuing attention, questions and observations.
The Outcome:
Jonathan emerged as a more resilient and balanced Partner, and as a leader with a new tools for his sustained success.
The impact was so significant that Jonathan extended the engagement for continued reflective "check-ins."
